Sears Craftsman Parts Breakdowns and Manuals for Models starting with 944*

April 2022 Update - Hard to believe this blog post has been up for 5 years!  It still gets tons of traffic on a daily basis.  We are slowly starting to add the Sears Craftsman owners manuals into our website.  But we have thousands of them and it's not a fast process.  If you are looking for a particular manual and have a problem with the onedrive link, please email us at parts@drmower.ca and we'll do our best to prioritize your upload.  If we don't have your manual, leave a comment to this blog.  Our readers have been very good about supplying manuals when people are in need.

If you've read my last blog post on Sears Canada lawn tractors and lawn mowers with model numbers starting in 944*, you'll know it's not so easy to find the illustrated parts lists (IPLs) or parts breakdowns for these units.  Here are my best resources for finding IPLs for Craftsman lawn mowers and tractors starting in 944*

MyTractorForum.com - Terrific resource that frequently comes up when searching a specific 944 model. This is a forum where people get meaningful answers to their lawn and garden tractor questions.

This link takes you to over 1200+ 944 manuals but you have to login to your Live.com / Hotmail profile first- Craftsman Manuals on One-Drive. Ok, maybe this is my secret stash of Sears Canada Craftsman IPLs.  Use the headings to navigate through the (ie 944.3 series is for lawn mowers, 944.6 series for lawn tractors). But if your manual isn't here, try some of the resources, below:.

http://vintagesearsgardentractors.com/ - This site is great for Sears tractor owners generally and includes a few manuals.  I often use the belt guide to check sizing on deck belts.

SearsTractorManuals.com - This site includes some Sears and Roper manuals that you can't find on Searsdirectparts.com, but I haven't had too much luck with Canadian models - this is more for vintage Craftsman mowers.

PartsTree.com - This doesn't always work, so don't quote me on this but Dan often uses PartsTree's Electrolux AYP Sears  link to search for tractor models.  Now this won't work if you only have a 944.****** number, but may work if you search the alpha numeric number and drop the extra zero or last 1-2 digits.  

Confused yet? A Canadian LT1250 matches a LT125 lawn tractor physically. The IPL for LT125 should include most of the same parts as your LT1250. I'd say Dan has about an 75% success rate and it's very quick.  Keep in mind that he can look at a mower deck schematic and the routing of a belt and know right away if it's a match. That doesn't necessarily work for us ordinary (non-technical) mortals.

I usually check the variations and the common parts like deck spindles/mandrel assemblies, belts, pulleys etc are pretty standard for the different models, as long as the deck size is the same.

Sears Source Code List - This covers more than just lawn and garden equipment but is a handy resource to figure out how Sears' numbering systems work.  

SearsPartsDirect.com - Searching 944* in the Sears model search for the US parts site returned 114 parts diagrams. Most are chainsaws and trimmers, but there were a handful of riding lawn mowers (like 7). Lucky you if you're one of the lucky 7!

Finally,  Craftsman models start with C459- cross over to MTD numbers and can be searched through MTD.  I'll list them as a new blog post next.
